Suzuki Violin Music is a Fun Way to Play the Violin

Have you heard about the Suzuki violin method? Many people are raving about this type of instruction that has stood its ground against other violin teaching styles. Based on the theory that music is a language, very young children are started on the Suzuki violin method because it has been proven that children can master a language, specifically the language of music, faster at a young age.

Created and developed by Shinichi Suzuki, a famed violin maker, player and teacher, the method helps children regard playing the violin as a natural function of life. This is why they are taught to play by ear even before they are introduced to reading notes. Just as in learning a language, one must first learn to speak it before reading it, learning to play the violin by ear is more effective than attempting to read the notes first.

Dr. Shinichi Suzuki also believed that playing the violin should be fun. This is why he developed a violin masterclass where children of the same level are grouped together to play both melodic and rhythmic games on the instruments. This works to motivate young players to view playing the violin as something to enjoy, as well as helping them with their technical mastery.

The Suzuki violin method also incorporates playing as a group. Children both play and practice among others in order to help them learn how to play the violin in unison. This group effort also helps children learn how to go with the flow and inspire one another with their playing.
